All uphill participants have acknowledged that they know and will adhere to the Maine Skier Statute and the Maine Recreational Use Statute.
There is ONLY ONE designated route for uphill travel: Kancamagus – Jack Spratt.

Season Opening & Hours
Uphill access is available daily from 6am to 4pm during the ski season. At the beginning of the season, uphill access is not permitted due to snowmaking and grooming operations. Access opens once Lower Kancamagus and Jack Spratt are open for the season and conditions are deemed appropriate by Ski Patrol. Check the Mountain Report for current status and any closures.
Pass Requirements
All participants must carry a valid uphill access pass while on the mountain. Passes are non-transferable, and Pleasant Mountain personnel reserve the right to conduct spot checks at any time.
- Season Passholders: Complimentary uphill access pass available at Guest Services
- Non-Passholders: Uphill Access Season Pass ($125) or Daily Pass ($15) available at Guest Services or online. Pass holders will need to pick up pass identification at guest services.
- After-Hours Access: If accessing outside normal business hours, keep your confirmation email available on your phone
- Note: Uphill passes do not permit chairlift riding
Designated Route & Travel Protocol
There is ONLY ONE designated uphill route: Lower Kancamagus to Jack Spratt to Summit. Travel single file on the left-hand side of the trail (downhill skier's right). Uphill travel is limited to skinning and alpine touring equipment only—snowshoes, cross-country equipment, hiking boots, and foot traffic are not permitted on alpine trails.
Safety & Awareness
- Visibility: Wear bright colored or reflective gear and use a light during low-light conditions. Headlamps and reflective clothing are strongly recommended during sunrise ascents.
- Communication: Ski Patrol is not available unless lifts are operating. In case of emergency, call 911. Carry a fully charged cell phone, know your location including trail names, and practice check-in texts or calls with friends. Be aware that cell service is inconsistent and cold temperatures reduce battery life.
- Sound Awareness: You must be able to hear your surroundings. Inner ear headphones are not appropriate when traveling uphill. When you hear snowcats or snow machines approaching, immediately cede the right of way to mountain operations personnel.
- Mountain Hazards: Stay at least 25 feet away from snowmaking equipment (hoses, hydrants, guns, fan gun power lines), snowmobiles, and snowcats. ASSUME SNOWCAT OPERATORS CANNOT SEE YOU. Snowmobiles, snowcats, snowmaking equipment, and other operational hazards may be encountered at any time.
Mountain Closures & Restrictions
- Uphill travel is prohibited between 4pm and 6am. No uphill travel when lights are on.
- Ski Patrol reserves the exclusive right to close the mountain to uphill access due to weather, conditions, or operational needs. When uphill routes are closed, do not seek alternate routes—consider the entire mountain closed to uphill traffic.
- Closed trails are prohibited at all times.
- Dogs, pets, sledding, hiking, snowshoeing, and camping are not permitted on the mountain at any time.
Any person using facilities in the ski area is considered a skier and assumes all risks. You are required to adhere to all posted information, be aware of trail closures and operational considerations, and be especially aware of other skiers, riders, and mountain operations.
